An all Bengal KKR team?
As sexy as Alu-Posto. Right?!
In 2014 Manoj Tiwary was of the opinion that KKR doesn’t like players from Bengal. The same opinion was shared by Wriddhiman Saha even though KKR did bid for him. Since we Bengalis pride ourselves on language, Kalchaar, Biryani, Maanch-mishti and more.
What would a team from Opar Bangla and Epar Bangla look like?
Can the Mohan Bagan and East Bengal kiss for once ?
Beyond the jati racism of Mohan bagan (remember Rj Sayan Vs Mohan Bagan) Beyond the hindu-muslim binary of Mohammedan Sporting, beyond the so-called cosmoliberal Calcutta culture of ATK and KKR.
Here’s what an IPL team from Bengal and Bangladesh would look like.
An IPL franchise needs minimum 16 players, among them 4 foreigners minimum. Well in this case not exactly phoren!

Barring Vivek Singh and Sayan Ghosh most of the players are known to readers. You must be thinking why is Vivek Singh the first name. Vivek Singh is a opener by trade and striked the ball at 142.28 with an average of 35.75 in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, country’s domestic tournament. Sayan Ghosh is a wily customer and has many cutters and slower balls up his sleeve. He was picked up by KKR last year but this time found takers from DD.
Eden Gardens at present supports swing and seam movement, especially after the pitch was relaid. We all remember KKR dismantling RCB last year for 49 all out. The attack is well suited to exploit home conditions. Outside it might be an issue but with Shakib-Al-Hasan and two part timers in Mahmadullah and Tiwary they are well equipped to tackle any pitch.
The batting takes care of itself. With Shreevats Goswami in sensational form , 373 runs in 8 matches at 151.62 strike rate and 53.28 average, and Four Finishers to follow, KKR would like to chase. If 2 of them can hit form this team is sure to make it to qualifiers.
Many would be wondering why Mahmadullah gets to be the captain. In my opinion a caption should be cool and calm under pressure, a trait shown by Mahmadullah as he cleanly flicked Udana over square leg in one single motion in the recently concluded Nidhas Trophy. Shakib too his credit is too emotional and Tiwary has been unimaginative. And ofcourse we don’t need our bhalo pishi, nonte-fonte, didi and nani too look at these!
